The Palace Hotel in Mount Abu was earlier called as the Bikaner House. There are many hotels in Mount Abu, the only hill station in Rajasthan. This majestic mansion was used as the summer residence by the royal family of Bikaner and thus the name, Bikaner House. Later it was converted into a heritage hotel. The building was designed by a greatly renowned architect, Sir Swinton Jacob. He was the architect of Maharja of Bikaner, Ganga Singh Ji. The building was transformed into a heritage hotel in the year 1962 by his descendant whose name was Karni Singh.
