The Palace on Wheels is a luxurious deluxe train that takes you on a journey to the land of royalty Rajasthan, covering Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur and Agra. The Palace on Wheels operates every Wednesday from Delhi Cantt Railway Station for a week long sojourn through the enchanting land of Rajasthan which is replete with legends and folklore. The Palace On Wheels is operational from the mouth of September to April. From May till August, the train undergoes maintenance and repair works and thus there is no service during this period. The entire travel arrangement has been rather meticulously planned and the train travels only during the night time. The Palace On Wheels has been plying since the year 1982 and it is run by Indian Railways in collaboration with Rajasthan Tourism. Ever since its launch, this fabulous train has carved a niche for itself as a royally opulent train. The Palace on Wheels was awarded with the prestigious PATA gold award in the year 1987.
